Tamang Heritage Trail is a newly developed tourism product, off the beaten track, that highlights an ancient lifestyle combining with picturesque scenery. The people of this region are mostly Tibetans who came from Kerung in Tibet across the border and settled in Nepal.

The culture, social practices & customs of the local people are matched with the Tibetan people. People here practice Tibetan Buddhism & follower of Dalai Lama.

Itinerary - Tamang Heritage Trail

Day 1

Arrival to Kathmandu (1,300m/4264 ft)

Up on your arrival to Tribhuvan International airport, our airport representative welcomes you at the airport & drops us off to the hotel. Check inn to the hotel, evening meet with the guide & prepare necessary arrangements for the trek.

Day 2

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100 ft)- 07 Hours

After our breakfast at the hotel we continue our drive on a winding road that passes through beautiful river, farm land and dense forests. One a clear day we could see beautiful Mt.Annapurna, Mt. Manaslu & Mountains on Langtang Range. We continue till we descend to Syabrubesi, gateway to the Tamang Heritage trail.

Day 3

Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang(2,200m/7,217ft) 05 hours

Today is the first day of our trek day; we hike through Goljung village enjoying beautiful views of the Ganesh Himal, Sidhapaangma, Langtang Lirung & many other small peaks. Continuing our steep climb we reach cultural village Gatlang,. Most of the houses in this village are traditional stone houses.

Day 4

Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m/8550 ft)6-7 hours

Leaving behind Gatlang, we continue our trail with a descent to Thangbuche & enjoy magnificent views of Holy Mountain “Ganesh Himal” & langtang range. On our trail we pass through chilime Hudropower dam & continue ascend till we reach tatopani. Thaopani means “Hot Water”, here we used to have bath on natural hot spring water.

Unfortunately: Now we can’t enjoy the Hot Bath at this place, since this place was badly hit by the Devastating earthquake on 2015. The natural system of hot spring was damanged.

Day 5

Tatopnai to Thuman(2,400m/7,874 ft) via Brimdang & Nagthali -06 Hours

Today we trek from Tatopani to Thuman via Bimdang & nagthali, the trail passes through dense alpine forests till we reach small TGamange settlement at Brimdang. We have a steep climb uphill till we reach Nag Thali hill , which is also a very popular view point at this region. The picturesque view of Langtang, Sanjan Kerung & Ganesh Himal are mind blowing.

Trek down to Thuman & Overnight.

Day 6

Thuman to Briddim(2,345m/7,693ft): 06 hours

This day we trek from Thuman to briddim via Lingling. We have a very flat and easy trail with not mush ascend & descend. Briddim is a small Tibetan Buddhist village ideally located on lap of Langtang Himal. WE make our visit to Dukchu Monastery. The typical people of this village are of Tibet origin following Tibetan Buddhism.

Day 7

Briddim to Lamahotel(2470m/8101 ft)

Leaving behind Briddim we continue our trail to Lama Hotel. We descend to Ghopche khola which is a small stream. We take a final ascend to Lama Hotel via Rimche. Lama hotel is located on abank of the Langtang River with beautiful view of Mountains and Langtang River.

Day 8

Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Valley (3455m/11332ft.) 6-7 hours

Leaving Behind Lamahotel we continue ascending with a pleasant mountain landscape with beautiful waterfalls on our way. On our arrival to Ghodetabala, we begin to see beautiful mountains at Langtang Range. We have our lunch at Ghodetabala. After lunch we continue to climb up the widening valley, that passes through few temporary settlements that are being used by herders. On our final approach to Langtang Valley we pass through one Buddhist Monastery.

Day 9

Langtang Valley to Kyanjin Gompa(3,870m/12,697 ft) 5 hours

The trail to Kyanjin Gompa is very scenic. We pass through beautiful water falls, Colorful Buddhist mantra flags, Prayer wheels, beautiful chortens well Buddhist decorated with sacred mounds of rocks craved holy mantras. Also we pass by the largest mani wall of Nepal craved on a huge stone. Lunch at Kyanjin Gompa. Afternoon we explore beautiful valley & Buddhist monasteries with a stannic view of Snow Mountains.

Day 10

Hiking to Kyanjin ri(4773m/15,655 ft) 04 Hours hiking + 05 hours

Starting our early morning hike to Tserko ri, view of sunrise touching giant snow mountains, slowly turning golden colour are super. We have a panaromic view, to the northwest we can see entire face of Langtang Lirung(7227m) & Langtang Lirung glacier Just below the peak. Just to the right of Langtang Lirung is Changbu(6251m) & Yubra (6264m). Yala Peak (5500m)is visible to the northeast .just to the southwest lies Tsergo Ri(4984m) with a clearly visible trail leading to the top. To the south across valley you could see Naya Khanga(5844m).

Note: Getting to the top can be 2 -4 Hours depending on your pace and the trail conditions. Please make sure you carry enough water, enough sunscreen as well a good Jacket as the top can be windy. Breakfast at the hotel & continue our downhill trail to Ghodetabala.

Ghodetabala-Syabru Besi

Our final day of the trek is gradual descends leading to our final destination Syabrubesi.

Drive back to Kathmandu

We drive to Kathmandu. Evening enjoy cultural farewell dinner with the entire Indoor & Outdoor crew.

Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour - Departure

We enjoy cultural sightseeing tour at Kathmandu (Sightseeing tour includes Bouddhanath stupa, Swoyambhunath Stupa & Bhaktapur Durbar Square), Evening final transfer to International airport, “ “Home Sweet Home”
